34.6% of the total population of Nepal is under the age of fourteen.
It is estimated that 650,000 children are orphaned due to parental death, but there are countless more who have been abandoned.
Eight Acre Property
7,000 to 10,000 girls are trafficked into the slave trade industry every year.
We have a dream to provide a solution. Sophia Children’s Village will not be another institutionalized dormitory-style facility. It will be a place where abandoned and neglected children can thrive within a family atmosphere.
It will be a place designed to care for the emotional and psychological needs of children as well as their basic physical needs.
It will be a place where they can grow up as brothers and sisters with a mother who will always be there for them.
It will be a place where they are afforded an excellent education and taught a trade that will prepare them for a successful adulthood.
Our plan is to construct the Children’s Village in stages as funding becomes available.
Before any construction can begin, the property needs to be developed which includes: road, perimeter wall, water wells, utilities, and level the property. We are currently in the process of constructing a road to the property.
Once the property has been developed, we will be able to build the first cottage and immediately move the first group of children onto the site.
The Children’s Village will consist of twelve cottages. Each cottage can house up to twelve children as well as a housemother or parents.
Our future plans include a private school with grades K-8, that will not only serve the children at Sophia Children’s Village, but will also meet the educational needs for the surrounding communities.
We plan to build a multi-purpose hall on the grounds. This will be used as an assembly hall, church and school auditorium, vocational training for local pastors, medical outreach, and training center.
